Jackie Glazier Earns First 2013 WSOP Europe Bracelet in Ladies Event
The 2013 World Series of Poker Europe is well underway at the Casino Barrière d'Enghien-les-Bainswith near Paris, France with the first of eight WSOP gold bracelets won over the weekend by Jackie Glazier in Event #1: €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Ladies Event. The 888 Poker pro topped a field of 65 players to earn the victory and €21,850 first prize on Saturday.
Glazier's Event #1 win continues a notable year for the Australian that includes cashes at the Aussie Millions and WSOP Asia Pacific earlier in the year, then was highlighted by a 31st-place finish in this summer's WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.
Glazier was the last woman remaining in the field when she was eliminated from this year's WSOP Main Event, and earned a cool $229,281 for her efforts.
From the field of 65 players just eight made it through to the second and final day of play on Saturday, with Glazier enjoying the a big chip lead to start the day. Only seven players made the money, however, and so when Anais Lerouge was eliminated early on Saturday the cash bubble had burst.
A short-stacked Gaelle Baumann — who like Glazier was the last woman to be eliminated from the WSOP Main Event back in 2012 when she finished 10th — soon followed in seventh to be the first casher at 2013 WSOP Europe.
As the next four players fell, Glazier was still ahead when heads-up play began between her and Marline Valente. Valente would seize the advantage at one point, but Glazier grabbed it back before a hand arose that saw Valente all in before the flop with versus Glazier's . The jacks held, and Glazier claimed her first WSOP bracelet.
